Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea at 42 the Calls
27 February 2017
Being a Mother is the most selfless job in the world… so give something back this March and treat the leading lady in your life to a spot of indulgence with our Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea; taking place this 25th and 26th March in the cosy four-star surroundings of 42 the Calls. All Mum’s will also be able to take home a charming jam-jar posies to round off the event.
Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea
This March is all about Mum... so sit back, relax and take in the welcoming ambiance of our revered River Room, and prepare to be waited on attentively by our staff as you delight in tiers and tiers of sweet and savoury treats… all of which can be washed down with a brew from our extensive tea menu, or a glass of Prosecco.
You’ll be crying tiers of joy (sorry) as you are subjected to a sumptuous selection of gourmet finger sandwiches, filled with choices of classic cucumber, roast chicken & smashed avocado, smoked salmon & cream cheese and brie, chilli & pear… providing a delicious start to your Afternoon Tea; which is about to get a whole lot more delicious, as you indulge in soft warm scones served with whipped cream & preserves, a variety of delicious homemade cakes, and the ultimate crowd-pleaser… Eton mess, which has been prepared into cute, bitesize servings.
Of course, Afternoon Tea wouldn’t be complete without actual tea, and at 42 the Calls you’ll be spoilt for choice with our all-encompassing menu of brews. You’ll also be served up a delicious glass of Prosecco, served with Chambord, perfect for toasting to Mum.
On top of the appetising array of sweet and savoury delights that are at your disposal, your Afternoon Tea experience is made all the more enjoyable by the environment in which you dine. Our River Room offers a spacious area… combing the contemporary, with the buildings original 18th century features. Charismatic wooden beams and walls decked with floral fine art also augment the charming ambiance of the room; which is heightened further by the abundance of natural light spilling in from outside… and views overlooking the beautiful River Aire.
Mother’s Day Outings in Leeds
After an afternoon of indulgence, why not make the day complete with a venture into the city – where a great number of Leeds’s leading venues are located just a short journey away from 42 the Calls.
On the morning and afternoon of Saturday 25th you have to opportunity to visit one of Leeds's most iconic buildings – the Leeds Corn Exchange – for a celebration of women, as The Stalls Mother's Day Makers Market plays host to a multitude of creative northern artisans; specialising in mediums of art, textiles, jewellery and ceramics.… providing for the perfect place to partake in a spot of retail therapy, where you are assured to find a unique Mother’s Day gift.
Part and parcel of being a Mother is sitting through hours of Disney films (often with little complaint)… so kids and big kids alike will be elated by Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic, as all the best loved characters throughout Disney’s long and illustrious history take to the ice at the First Direct Arena, on Sunday 26th March. On the evening you can expect to see the likes of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, as they are joined by the casts of The Lion King, Toy Story, Frozen and more… to perform all of the classics from Disney’s extensive repertoire of hits.
Another way to see in the evening is at the historic Leeds Grand Theatre, where Sean Lock will be providing a night of wholesome belly laughter, with his ‘Keep it Light Show’ on Sunday 26th March. Of which The Guardian said: “He just lets the brilliance of his material dominate the room,” and The Times commented: “Lock at his best… gloriously intelligent, deliciously unlikely and hilariously funny.” Which all sounds rather promising.
Alternatively, you can simply enjoy each other’s company as you chinwag over a delicious cocktail… and our guide to some of the best cocktail venues in the city means you won’t have to traipse round town looking for somewhere to go.
