VW Festival at Harewood House
22 June 2016
Attend Live Events and Admire Beautiful Cars at a Three-Day VW Festival this August
From 12th to 14th August, Harewood House and its beautiful, 400 hectare gardens will be hosting one of Leeds’ major events: the VW Festival. Three days of collector car displays, sales and live events in a Georgian style décor that will make you feel like you’ve travelled back through time...
More than an automobile presentation, the Volkswagen Festival will offer attractions such as artists from all around the UK performing on stage, fancy dress activities and the very famous ‘Show & Shine’ contest. Bring the whole family, including pets, for a weekend to remember…and get ready to enjoy this year’s circus theme!
An Event for Car Fans
In the grounds of Harewood House gardens, hundreds of Volkswagen models will be displayed by their owners for both kids and grown-ups to admire. From the 60’s Beetle (remember Herbie?) and the 70’s, hippies’ favourite Kombi Van, to the very popular Golf vehicle, almost every iconic Volkswagen will be paraded.
A range of car-related events will also be on offer throughout the day. Attend the highly-anticipated ‘Show & Shine’ parade, where the most beautiful cars and vans will show off their sleek, vibrant-coloured bodywork to try and win first prize. There’ll also be the chance to try an F1 simulator to see if you’ve got what it takes to spin the wheel like Lewis Hamilton…
Walk along the alleyways of the festival to have a look at some of the most beautiful Volkswagens the UK – and sometimes the world – has to offer. Discuss their story with the owners, discover the passion and expertise that can come from owning these vehicles, and who knows, you might want to join their community yourself!
…and of Live Entertainment!
VW Festival will be a fun-filled weekend with live entertainment that will please the entire family. During the twelve previous editions, the show has seen circus performers, fire eaters and an outstanding live graffiti display, as well as a line-up of live concerts. Last summer, local rock bands and pop artists performed on stage to festival audiences.
This year, you’ll find even more activities for you and your family. Take your kids to the ‘Animal Antics’ area to observe an array of cute – and less cute – creatures such as penguins (yes, penguins !) and rabbits belonging to the first category, lizards and spiders to the second. Head to the face painting workshop for a colourful, creative design and finish the day playing on the Scalextric racing track that’s been set up to mirror Silverstone circuit.
Whether you’re a VW fan or just looking for a fun day out in Leeds, VW Festival is guaranteed to entertain all ages… in 18th century style surroundings and only a 30 minute’s ride from Leeds city centre!
