5 Places to Enjoy a Cocktail
Our Pick of the Best Cocktail Bars in Leeds
Trinity Leeds (9 minute walk from 42 the Calls)
Located on the second floor of the Trinity Shopping Centre, The Alchemist boasts stunning views over the city… and the cocktails aren’t bad either. Famed for its wizardry when it comes to cocktails, the venue has become a mecca for cocktail connoisseurs with its foaming, exploding, frothing, colour-changing cocktails. As well as a wide array of great-tasting cocktails, they also have an appetising menu, making for a great spot to enjoy a liquid lunch after a shopping spree.
18 Merrion Street (11 minute walk from 42 the Calls)
Notorious for their killer cocktails, Mojo is famed just as much for its music. Staying open until the early hours, the sprightly bar is a perfect place to let off some steam on the dancefloor; which you may find hard to leave thanks to their superb DJ’s. They also have an appealing American-style menu, overall making for a superb spot to see in the evening… or the day.
67 Boar Lane (6 minute walk from 42 the Calls)
Also located in the Trinity (on the bottom floor), The Botanist are fierce rivals to The Alchemist; but they too know how to make a cocktail. Here, they pride themselves on their passionately developed, unusual concoctions, which highlight the delicate, subtle and sometimes very strong flavours from Mother Nature herself. They also have an enticing menu, should you get peckish after a few greenhouse inspired cocktails.
Granary Wharf (12 minute walk from 42 the Calls)
Located at the top of Granary Wharf, Sky Lounge boasts the best views in the city (which you may pay the pleasure for), but their extensive, Yorkshire themed cocktail menu boasts some appetising concoctions including, ‘White Rose’, ‘Yorkshire’s Diamond’ and ‘Ruby, Ruby, Ruby’ (named for the Kaiser Chiefs).
1 – 3 Call Lane (4 minute walk from 42 the Calls)
The mysterious Maven is Leeds nightlife’s worst kept secret. The cryptic façade of the venue is only made recognisable by the solitary ‘M’ that hangs outside, but once you step inside, you will find a sleek, prohibition themed cocktail hang out that will throw you back into the midst of the Roaring 20s. Full of mystery, with an enthralling cocktail menu, The Maven is a great venue to spend the evening; if you can find it that is… (If not a member of staff will be happy to direct you).
